The glow trio: Turmeric, Cinnamon & Ginger for radiant skin

When it comes to supporting glowing, healthy skin, some of the most powerful ingredients are sitting right in your kitchen cupboard.
Turmeric, cinnamon and ginger are three spices that not only add flavour and warmth to your food but also offer a wealth of benefits for your skin, from the inside out.
Turmeric – the golden healer
Turmeric has long been used in traditional medicine for its remarkable anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Its active compound, curcumin, helps calm inflammation in the body — one of the key drivers behind many skin issues such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and premature ageing.
By reducing inflammation, turmeric supports clearer, calmer skin and helps even out skin tone.
Curcumin is also a powerful antioxidant, protecting the skin against free radical damage caused by pollution, stress and UV exposure.
This helps to slow down the visible signs of ageing, keeping skin looking brighter and more youthful.
Adding turmeric to your meals, smoothies, or even a soothing golden milk can help nourish your skin from within.
Cinnamon – the circulation booster
Cinnamon doesn’t just smell like comfort, it’s also a wonderful ally for the skin.
It helps improve blood circulation, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to skin cells. Good circulation means better skin repair and a healthy, natural glow.
Cinnamon is also known for its antimicrobial properties, which can help reduce bacteria that contribute to breakouts.
Inside the body, it can support stable blood sugar levels which is another important factor for balanced hormones and calmer, clearer skin. High blood sugar can trigger inflammation and worsen acne, so keeping it steady is key for glowing skin at any age.
Sprinkling a little cinnamon onto your porridge, yoghurt or baked apples is an easy (and delicious) way to enjoy its benefits.
Ginger – The revitaliser
Ginger is another powerful spice packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols. These help protect the skin from oxidative stress, which is the process that leads to dullness, fine lines and loss of elasticity.
Ginger also supports healthy digestion and circulation, both of which are vital for radiant skin.
A sluggish digestive system can lead to a build up of toxins that show up on your skin as breakouts or irritation. By aiding digestion and improving nutrient absorption, ginger helps ensure your skin gets the nourishment it needs from the foods you eat.
Enjoy it fresh in teas, soups or stir-fries to keep your skin (and your whole body) glowing and energised.
A daily dose of glow
These three warming spices of turmeric, cinnamon and ginger work beautifully together to support skin health by reducing inflammation, balancing hormones, improving circulation, and protecting against premature ageing.
Whether you stir them into your morning porridge, blend them into a smoothie, or enjoy them in a comforting cup of tea, they’re simple, natural ways to feed your skin from within.

Ready for a warming drink with all three of these spices?
Ingredients (serves 1–2)
1 cup (250ml) of your favourite milk – oat, almond or coconut work well
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger (or a pinch of ground ginger)
A pinch of black pepper (helps your body absorb curcumin from turmeric)
½ teaspoon honey or maple syrup, to taste
Optional: a few drops of vanilla extract or a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavour
Method:
Gently warm the milk in a small pan over a low to medium heat – don’t let it boil.
Add the turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper. Whisk continuously for a minute or two until well combined.
Remove from the heat, stir in the honey or maple syrup, and add vanilla or nutmeg if you like.
